Our founders, Jonathan and Alec, met at Smart Design in New York, where they quickly bonded over their interest in sustainable design. Alec, frustrated that almost all efficient camping stoves require fossil fuels, came up with the idea of ​​a wood-burning stove that could use its own heat energy to improve combustion. Jonathan, an avid camper, quickly applied his engineering knowledge and the two began the design process. Countless nights, weekends and prototypes later, the BioLite CampStove was born: a portable biomass stove that takes advantage of thermoelectricity to create a smokeless fire while recharging personal devices. Jussi's search for a reusable bottle that met both his demanding hydration needs and his style failed time and time again, and he guessed he wasn't alone. He pledged to create a company that would fill that void and soon after, Mizu was born.
